New and Improved 2012 Spring Season
We have many changes in store this year. First some behind the scene changes that you may not know about. We are providing more support to your managers. We will be having a manager clinic to kick off the year and provide our managers all the support we possibly can. The fields in Kirby and Live Oak are being upgraded. In Kirby the Major and Tee Ball fields are being prepared for the season with new cutouts, bases and skinned area dirt. We are also attempting a fix to the major field drainage issue. In Live Oak the fields have new cutouts and field dirt is being applied. New dugout covers on the junior and softball fields and we hope to get new dugout flooring before the season starts. The city of Live Oak is also at work on the junior field backstop. We thank the City of Kirby and the City of Live Oak for all the great work they do and ask all our parents to show appreciation to the city council in both our great host cities. We also have some great activities planned this year. Opening day parade will be March 24 from Kirby Middle School to Friendship Park. While opening ceremonies will happen March 24, a Saturday, we will start league play on March 19th. There is always a lot happening opening day and this year your team pictures will also be taken on opening day so look sharp in your uniform. We plan on having 2 league outings, the first one is still in the planning stages, think pizza and games the second is set with our night at the Missions on Friday June 8th where we all go to a San Antonio Missions Baseball game. Get with your team manager to get your tickets. This year for the first time we will have a mid-season tournament. At the end of the year we will have our traditional end of season tournament with the winner going on to City tournament. In a change however all other teams will also continue to play up to closing ceremonies. This year we will have a formal closing ceremony on 16 June at 10 am in Live Oak. We will announce our All Star teams and hand out awards.
The 2012 season is shaping up to be a great year for GNELL, we hope you enjoy yourself.
